We are KAMUI FC, a football club based in Higashikawa-cho, a village on the outskirts of Hokkaido’s second biggest town, Asahikawa.

Kamui is an Ainu language word that refers to natural deities. “FC” means of course “Football Club”, but in our case also: “Family and Community“.

We got together early in 2022, with the idea to start from scratch and create the best football club in our region. We registered in the Hokkaido North/Central league, which is the sixth tier of Japanese football.

In our first season, we featured 32 players, aged 19 to 39, mostly from the Asahikawa area, but also from other places in Hokkaido. We finished second in the table by only one point, winning six games out of eight, scoring 17 goals and conceding 12.

During the season we organized a youth football event that saw the participation of the Borussia Dortmund Academy.

The Asahikawa area does not have a great history when it comes to football. Our will is to change such history, to create a club that will be able to complete regularly in the Hokkaido League (5th tier of Japanese football), and eventually to aim for professionalism.

We want to become an all-inclusive football club, with our own stadium, our youth and women’s teams, coaches and players from all over the world and a lifestyle that revolves around love for the Game, respect for diversity and our wonderful environment.

We are a young club with a long way to go, but we are very determined to succeed and to create opportunities for those who want to play and work with football in Higashikawa-cho and in the Asahikawa area.
